JOURNALISM, A.S. TRANSFER
ABOUT THIS DEGREE
The Journalism Program at Vincennes University takes a hands-on approach to teaching the skills needed in this rapidly changing, exciting, and fast-paced career field. Two tracts – Journalism and Photojournalism – are designed to prepare graduates to transfer on to four-year programs or to enter the workforce directly after earning an associate’s degree.
Classes taken by journalism and photojournalism majors include News Reporting, Editing, Communication Law, and Mass Communication. Our coursework is focused on learning by doing.
Students in the Journalism Program get to work for our award-wining newspaper, THE TRAILBLAZER, starting their first semester on campus. The Trailblazer is a student-run, multimedia news organization.
The newspaper is produced in our newly redesigned Journalism Lab in Davis Hall on the 澳门足球博彩官方网址 campus. Students have access to industry standard Macintosh computers and Adobe Creative Suite software, as well as DSLR cameras, as they work to cover campus and community news.
Journalism and photojournalism students gain experience in all aspects of news production – including interviewing sources, writing stories, editing, page layout, photography, and advertising. Every student has the opportunity to explore all facets of news production, then can choose a specific area of interest to pursue in-depth during the latter half of their coursework.
The 澳门足球博彩官方网址 Journalism Program is designed to give students the experience needed to obtain a job in journalism immediately after graduation and to provide the skills needed to transfer to a four-year program.
